Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ 80

Year: 1993

Engine Type: 6 CYLINDER 4.5 Liter Petrol powered monster

Neeloy FZJ80 1

It was originally imported from Japan for the Malaysia Embassy, then sold to the Poland Embassy in 2002 who auctioned it in March 2007 when it had clocked 244k kms on the Odometer.
As on date the ODO reads 288k kms.

It is powered by a monstrous of a 4500 cc petrol engine, in-line 6-cylinders with 24 valves, Which translates into a whooping 212 bhp of power (detail specs see bottom of this post), something that you can definitely feel when you drive the vehicle.

Some words from the current owner
———————————–
I deliberately wanted a petrol cruiser for this power range and the carbureted engine ensured I get the best out of this beast.
Its been used primarily used it as a daily-use vehicle, commuting from office and back, and have done a few long distance trips in this Cruiser.
I did the complete Delhi-Manali-Leh-Kargil-Srinagar-Jammu-Delhi circuit in August 2009…the vehicle performed exceedingly well and I faced no issues driving this vehicle even through the passes and the non-existent roads in that stretch.
In April 2010, I relocated from Bangalore-Delhi and drove in this vehicle with my wife. The stretch was covered in 3 days, covering 2500 kms with overnight halts at Mumbai, Ahmadabad and Udaipur.

Service History

——————————————————————————————————

I’ve maintained this vehicle immaculately, it’s been serviced every 4.5k kms.
In my 3 and a half years of running this vehicle, I’ve changed the following parts: brake master cylinder, clutch (at 2, 66,000), radiator, dashboard lights and its running on CNG.
It’s got a Pioneer stereo with 6 speakers and a sub-woofer. I also put new seat covers and floor mats.
Further I would l like to say that this petrol powered beast is one of a kind. Its easy to maintain, parts are easily and cheaply available and   Neeloy FZJ80 2

when running on CNG is quite easy on the pocket too.

A personal note on the FE

Another thing that I would like to add that a person who buys a vehicle like this is not really concerned about the FE figures but still when someone is thinking about buying a vehicle, its only natural that the would want to know the complete details of the vehicle, especially the Fuel Efficiency figures

The vehicle gives me an FE of 8 km to the kilo of CNG which translates to a running cost of just Rs.3.43 per kilometer. Second with its 2 CNG cylinders it takes gas of 20 kilos which translates to a range of 160 kms on CNG and a 95 liter fuel tank gives a range of approx 500 kms. Some people might even ask or think that highway driving will be very expensive on the pocket, well to put is straight answer Yes it would be.
But then rationally thinking one should ask himself. How much of a highway driving does one do in a year compared to local city driving.
In the last 3 years of my ownership I have driven the vehicle for 44k kms of which highway driving was at he max 8-10k kms and the rest was all city driving. Therefore the amount spent in all was Rs.100k on petrol and approx 120k on CNG. This comes to a per kilometer cost of Rs.5 per kilometer which is similar to as a comparable 80 series diesel.

Now the question comes if I am so happy, Why am i selling it.
———————————–
The plain and simple answer is I am thinking of upgrading to a 100 series and YES again a petrol powered one.

So guys heres the above story complete in all respects, incase of any further queries please feel to talk to me or Harjeev on the below mentioned numbers or email.

      Hi Siddharth,
There is a group active in Jaipur and they have quite a number of MM550′s, Gypsy’s, Pajeros, etc and go for regular off-roading.
Please add me on FB (you’ve already added me on twitter) and send me a message. I would pass on the info contact details of the Jaipir gang and they would help you. Also in the message I would give you my telephone number and I would, TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, try to answer your queries.
      Cheers
      Harjeev

    is the vehicle available still??

    • September 29, 2016 at 7:15 AM

Negative Vivek, this vehicle was sold long back. But with the NGT Ruling, lots more vehicles have become available, I was ‘thinking’ selling mine as well, but decided against it. But a friend recently sold his 80 Series with a 1HZ engine for a similar price.
