ODO Meter reading 145500
The last update of the vehicle was at 1361xx Kms in March 2012. Since then the vehicle’s been driven 9400 Kms in about 6 months time. Of this 9400 Kms majority of the drive was done on my Delhi – Goa – Delhi driving vacation. You can read about it here.
The majority of the jobs done/ expenses incurred on the vehicle since then(Mar’12 136K Kms) have been as follows
- May’12 – Full Comprehensive Insurance
- Mar’12 – Bought a single tyres Prielli Scorpion in Baroda @ 140050 Kms (explained below)
- Mar’12 & May’12 – 2 Normal Services @ 136535 Kms & 142442 Kms. The second service was slightly overdue as the vehicle was out of station at the time.
- Jul’12 – Bought 4 new tyres Yokohama Geolanders AT-S @ 143090 Kms (explained below)
- Aug’12 – Changed the Air Conditioner Blower 142223 Kms
- Aug’12 – Replaced the Spider Kit for the Rear Shaft/ Differential 142223 Kms
- Aug’12 – Changed the Studs & Nuts for the front right wheel (apparently it had been wrongly tightened which resulted in the grooves being worn out) 142223 Kms
It was 23rd or March 2012 and was time for us to head back for New Delhi Via Mumbai and Udaipur. The earlier plan was that we’ll go to Mumbai via NH17 and take a night halt at Tarkarli, I had spent weeks preparing the GPS Tracks for that area, planning the routes with the help of HV Kumar sir, however this plan was shelved at he had already been about a week since we’d left home and the children were not up to it. Me too personally had developed an inkling that it was time to head back and maybe leave Tarkarli for a later time. The homework’s been done and the trip is surely on the cards for a later date.
Taking a final look at the place we started our 2200 Kms return journey to New Delhi at approx 826AM.

We made good time and cover 85kms were at the Mumbai Goa Border in a little less than 2 hours. Crossed the Goa Border Check Point with no issues but at the Maharashtra Check Point/ Excise Post, it was a different story. At this place I was asked to park my car and come out for inspection. This was about 7 Kms after the Goa Check Point so now I’m thinking that it can’t be the border post and must be the Excise Check Point.
After 3 days of driving through almost half or maybe three-fourth the length of the country, covering 2200 Kms we had arrived at our destination in Goa, Ramada Carvela Beach Resort.
Ramada Carvela Beach Resort
I will not go into details about how the hotel is/ was as I have posted a detailed review on Trip Advisor, so would be copy/pasting it here.
I would be starting my road trip tomorrow and broadly the planned night stays for the trip are as follows
Delhi- Jaipur- Ahmedabad- Mumbai- Goa- Tarkarli- Mumbai- Udaipur- Delhi
I’ve made confirmed booking at the following places
Hotel Amer View, Jaipur
Karnavati Club, Ahmedabad
Ramada Carvela Beach Resort, Varca, South Goa
In Tarkarli I would be scouting for a Hotel or a guest house when I get there and same would be for Udaipur.
I would sincerely like to thank HV Kumar of HV Kumar – Fan, Forum & Message Board and all the members of the above FB Group who have been really helpful in providing me the detailed road book and help me plan this adventure right from the start. Thanks a lot sir(s).
As always I would be driving my Toyota Landcruiser on this trip and by the looks of it the total trip would work out to be over 4200 Kms. I plan to be back by the 27th or 28th of March 2012. Many people may ask why Goa and some of them may even ask why by road especially when air tickets are available little over of what I may spend on fuel costs. Well I’ve always been travelling by air since long and a package deal just doesn’t cut for me anymore and I feel that the adventure is missing in such a thing. Additionally I feel that if someone wants to see the real India, it can only be done when we are on ground. I am not against air travel but I feel that its more fun like this. Last year I did Delhi- Sasan Gir- Diu- Delhi and enjoyed every bit of it. Here’s the link to that https://harjeevchadha.wordpress.com/2011/11/25/delhi-ahmedabad-sasan-gir-diu-udaipur-delhi-road-trip-summary/
The following is just a broad guide to the route that I plan to take and it may differ from the actual route, especially the in/ and out of Mumbai and from Goa- Tarkarli- Mumbai from the route that’s been depicted in the following link. This link is just to give a broad overview on the route. Once I’ve completed the trip, I would be sharing the triplogs and GPX tracks for the entire trip.
